Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have encountered plenty of interesting creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer includes a character that is truly a dung attempting to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is simple: press a jump control. In one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a market to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Time your jumps carefully, since one error means beginning again. Bounce off floating orbs to launch the poop higher, cross crumbling ledges, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Earn currency to purchase more difficult stages as the action intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts neon level designs and an amazing music score. Its minimalist graphics with morphing abstract forms could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although difficult to name previous releases where you control a piece of feces, gaming often included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as soil enrichment. And of course, such content appears extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, including winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready at present on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to debut on PC in the fall.
